Mechanical Assembly Technician

Location: Sumter, SC
Job Type: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for reading blueprints and correctly assembling enclosures and other products. This position plays a key role in ensuring the product is assembled according to the customer’s needs. Other responsibilities of a Mechanical Assembly Technician include being able to identify hardware, use basic hand tools, and able to make sure the product can be assembled in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interface with other departments to ensure customer order deadlines are met.
  • Learn the use and care of basic hand tools.
  • Learn the identification of hardware types and sizes.
  • Learn the identification and use of assembly, parts lists, and piece-part drawings.
  • Learn proper assembly techniques of electrical components used in electrical enclosures.
  • Learn the proper use of electric and air-powered tools.
  • Learn the basics of CPS manufacturing processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Highschool diploma or GED
  • Employees may be an entry-level trainee.
  • Must have U.S Citizenship
  • Microsoft Suite experience (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in mechanical assembly
  • Forklift certified

Essential Physical Job Functions:

  • Able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods of time
  • Ability to climb ladders or step stools to access material when needed
  • Capable of handling repetitive motions such as grasping, lifting, and pulling items
  • Able to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or other warehouse equipment when needed
  • Ability to work in various warehouse environments, including hot, cold, or noisy conditions
  • Sufficient vision and hearing to safely operate equipment and perform job duties
