BNS Power products

Products for mission-critical power, built to your specification.

We do not sell from a catalog. Every product on this page is a proven design that our licensed PEs adapt to your one-line diagram, load profile, protection scheme, enclosure and environment, then build and factory-test in Sumter, South Carolina. Shipboard or land-based.

Custom by default

Voltage, bus rating, breaker layout, controls, HMI, shock and vibration class, coatings and enclosure are all specified per project. If your requirement is not listed below, it is usually still something we have built.

Marine engineering, land-based value

A switchboard designed to survive MIL-S-901D shock and a rolling deck is over-built for a data center or plant floor. Much of the design carries over, so you get shipboard reliability without a shipboard price premium.

Engineered, then built, then tested

The engineer who designs your system sits in the same building as the technicians who build it and the test bay that simulates shipboard operating conditions.

Low Voltage Switchboards

Custom-designed and built 450V switchboards meeting MIL-spec, ABS-NVR and marine specifications. Buswork and circuit breaker layouts are engineered to the input power capacity of your system, with electronic ground fault detection (EGFD) available. For land-based applications we build to your voltage and configuration: 480V and other standard voltages, custom main bus ratings, and the same PLC-based controls and paralleling schemes proven at sea.

450V marine COTS shock-mitigated switchboards

  • Commercial circuit breakers, generator controls and components mounted on custom shock-mitigation platforms
  • Wire-wound stainless steel coil shock mounts for superior vibration isolation
  • Designed for maritime defense applications requiring shock resistance

450V marine mitigated switchboards

  • Ruggedized steel or aluminum frames, doors and panels
  • Dual redundant AVR voltage regulation
  • Synchronization and load sharing for automatic paralleling between diesel generators
  • PLC-based local and remote automated controls
  • Custom buswork to required main bus rating
  • Interface and controls for 450V auxiliary diesel generators
  • Shore power connection
  • MG sets for sensitive loads, ship service transformers for non-sensitive loads
