The Challenge

The client faced a hard deadline with significant financial consequences: vacate an 80,000 square foot facility or face six-figure penalties. The scope extended far beyond simple equipment relocation—250 applications needed to migrate to a new environment, and the destination facility required custom build-out before it could receive the infrastructure.

The timeline left no room for sequential execution. Assessment, build-out, migration, and decommissioning would need to overlap, with precise coordination to ensure that dependencies were satisfied and operations continued throughout. A single missed handoff could cascade into deadline failure.

Adding complexity, the migration couldn’t disrupt ongoing business operations. Critical systems needed to remain available throughout the transition, with cutover windows carefully planned and communicated to stakeholders across the organization.

Our Approach

BNS Networks managed the engagement as an integrated program spanning three lifecycle phases simultaneously. While build-out crews prepared the destination facility, migration teams documented dependencies and planned application cutover sequences. Decommissioning protocols were established in advance so that source infrastructure could be retired immediately after successful migration validation.

The program operated with clear accountability and continuous communication. Daily standups identified blockers before they became delays. Risk registers tracked potential issues with mitigation plans ready. The aggressive timeline demanded discipline—but also flexibility when conditions required adjustment.
